“I’ll be a free agent,” Troy Aikman says as ESPN deal nears end

Troy Aikman, who serves as the lead analyst for ESPN’s Monday Night Football, indicated on October 15, 2026, that his current contract is set to expire after the network’s broadcast of Super Bowl LXI. During a radio interview in Dallas, the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback mentioned that he plans to finish out the football season, but has yet to determine his future broadcasting opportunities, leaving the possibility of an ESPN contract renewal uncertain.

Aikman’s existing five-year contract, which commenced with the 2022 NFL regular season, is valued at around $90 million and guarantees approximately $18 million annually. As of October 14, 2026, ESPN had not issued any formal renewal offer, meaning Aikman’s future remains open as he approaches the end of his agreement with the network.
