CARSON CITY, NV — An extensive cybersecurity breach involving Navigate360, a key software vendor, has resulted in the compromise of personal data associated with roughly 10% of the tips provided to Nevada’s confidential SafeVoice student reporting portal, as confirmed by state officials and the Las Vegas Sun. The details of the breach were disclosed in formal announcements made on Thursday, October 22, 2026, by both the Nevada Department of Education (NDE) and the Nevada Department of Public Safety (DPS).
The breach, identified during a forensic review by cyber defense firm HaystackID, allowed unauthorized access to the vendor’s systems, affecting reports from students regarding various safety concerns including mental health crises. Although the SafeVoice system ensures anonymity, some users have inadvertently included identifiable information.
