The UFC middleweight title scene has been tumultuous lately, particularly due to Sean Strickland’s public complaints about his contract, which have stalled his anticipated fight against Nassourdine Imavov. Despite Imavov’s efforts to incentivize the matchup by offering $500,000, the situation has not progressed. A recent altercation outside the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas highlighted the tension, where Imavov confronted Strickland, seeking clarity on the fight’s status.
Meanwhile, UFC contender Joe Pyfer has expressed disapproval of Imavov’s actions, arguing that Strickland should not bear the brunt of the contractual issues. Pyfer remarked, “Imavov wants it back. He’s been waiting almost two years, but that’s like his problem. Getting in the cage has nothing to do with Nassourdine Imavov.” With Strickland reportedly signing a new UFC contract just before facing Khamzat Chimaev, Imavov may face additional delays in securing a title shot.
