The recent fundraising efforts from July to September have significantly shaped the landscape of local government races in Northern Nevada. The Reno mayoral contest has set a record for quarterly fundraising, accumulating over $1.6 million collectively. Council member Kathleen Taylor led the fundraising drive with $502,000, while Kate Marshall raised approximately $265,000. Taylor has been more aggressive in her spending but has less cash on hand.
In Reno City Council races, Summer Pellett’s $74,000 in contributions more than doubles her opponent Matt Johnson’s $34,000. Meanwhile, in Sparks, incumbent Mayor Ed Lawson holds a substantial lead with over $82,000 raised, compared to Wendi Rawson’s $6,500. Additionally, key races for the Washoe County Commission are marked by significant fundraising disparities, particularly in District 3, where incumbent Mariluz Garcia raised $56,700, significantly outpacing her opponent.
