A storm system is anticipated to bring windy conditions and precipitation starting Tuesday and continuing through Thursday in the Las Vegas region. This weather comes shortly after the recent remnants of Tropical Storm Rachel, which resulted in significant flooding and set a daily rainfall record for October. According to meteorologist Morgan Stessman from the National Weather Service’s Las Vegas office, southerly winds will intensify before scattered showers and thunderstorms arrive midweek.
While the risk associated with the upcoming storms is classified as minor, forecasters warn of the potential for moderate to heavy rainfall, localized flash flooding, and gusts exceeding 40 mph. Preliminary forecasts suggest a 65% chance of rain in Las Vegas on Thursday, with temperatures expected to drop, making way for cooler conditions by the weekend.
