Las Vegas authorities have identified the remains found in a barrel at Lake Mead as Edward ‘Buddy’ Lelburian Jackson, an Arkansas man who disappeared in the early 1980s. Officials stated that Jackson, who was in his mid- to late 50s at the time of his death, suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head. According to Clark County Coroner Melanie Rouse, Jackson’s family had not reported him missing, nor did they have much information on his life.
Jackson’s remains were recovered in May 2022 after a boater discovered them inside a corroded barrel. The circumstances surrounding his death have led to speculations of organized crime involvement, but investigators have not confirmed any connections. Homicide Lt. Robert Price emphasized that the murder remains unsolved, with Jackson’s identity being just one part of the ongoing investigation.
