North Las Vegas has initiated its inaugural Urban Forestry Community Survey, inviting residents to share their views on the presence of trees and shade in their local areas. This survey, accessible online until October 31, is part of the city’s larger endeavor to address climate change and enhance community resilience.
City officials are eager to understand how the availability or absence of shade impacts daily life. The feedback provided by residents will contribute to a comprehensive strategy aimed at planting over 35,000 climate-adapted trees by the year 2051, increasing the city’s tree coverage from just under 3% to 4%. Enhanced greenery in neighborhoods is expected to mitigate heat, lower energy consumption, and address health issues associated with high temperatures.
