LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford’s campaign for governor is encountering a significant contradiction regarding gambling policy. His campaign has reportedly referenced prediction market odds in a fundraising email while his legal office is actively engaged in litigation to prevent major prediction market operators from operating in Nevada.
Gaming reporter Howard Stutz from Nevada Independent pointed out the campaign’s email, which highlighted prediction markets ranking the race, stating, “Interesting…@AaronDFordNV for Governor sent an email pitch citing how prediction markets are ranking the race.” However, Stutz reminded that these markets are illegal in Nevada and noted that Ford’s office is representing the Nevada Gaming Control Board against companies like Kalshi.
This situation underscores the complexities surrounding Nevada’s regulatory stance on prediction markets, a growing legal issue that Ford has consistently positioned himself against. Despite this, the campaign’s reliance on prediction market data raises challenging questions about consistency and policy adherence.
