Liking Las Vegas: UAE delegation visits to explore business, tourism opportunities

A delegation from Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE visited Las Vegas to explore potential partnerships in business and tourism as the emirate prepares for the opening of Wynn Resorts’ $5.7 billion hotel-casino. Carel Richter, an adviser to the emirate’s ruler, noted that tourism could significantly boost the UAE’s GDP, projecting a tripling in the sector’s contribution over the next decade.

With Wynn’s ambitious project set to introduce a casino to the UAE, officials are eager to learn from U.S. tourism leaders. Meetings were held with Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority CEO Steve Hill and Mayor Shelley Berkley, who emphasized the delegation’s intent to form solid connections beyond Wynn. The visit was part of a broader tour that included several U.S. states, showcasing the emirate’s growing economic landscape.
